What can I do for you?

When people come to me for advice, I begin with two things in mind. First, the quality of our communication with other people plays a vital part in how we feel about ourselves, and how we relate to what's going on in our lives. Second,each individual is unique and therefore every relationship between two people is unique also.

That's why I like to talk to prospective clients in a relaxed and informal way before we both decide whether the best way of resolving their particular problems is together, or whether my role is simply to offer some (hopefully constructive) comment and insight, and perhaps to refer them on to someone else who is better able to help. What's best for you is best for me.

I aim to resolve your problems as quickly and as amicably as possible - so that you can get on with the rest of your life. Whether you're just down the road or on the other side of the world, I can help. The majority of my clients are in the South West or South East, but thanks to the wonders of the internet I have also represented UK nationals based all over Europe, and in far flung places like China, India, Venezuela and the United States. Wherever you are - I'm there for you.

Where a 'Fixed Fee' is possible, I'm more than happy to oblige. In other cases, my hourly charging rates are extremely competitive. My aim is to offer a rate which represents real value for money, in comparison with other firms and Solicitors of similar experience. Legal advice is not cheap, but my fees are specifically designed to reflect your own circumstances, and there's no need to pay ' up front' as most family law firms require.

A little background

I qualified as a Solicitor in 1986, and I set up The Family Solicitor.com in May 2000 to enable me to provide the sort of individual and innovative service that is difficult to deliver within the structure of a conventional legal firm.

People are the most important thing, and the Law is secondary - so good legal advice should consider a client's broader needs and aspirations within the context of the legal problems they face. Such problems are therefore multi-faceted, and inter-relate with the broader emotional and practical aspects of each client's circumstances.

It's not enough to know the law - you also have to get to know the client. Communication is what it's all about.

I have a broad range of legal experience. For many years I divided my time between Criminal Law and Family Law, but since 1996 I have specialised exclusively in Family Law work (with particular emphasis on mid/high net worth Ancillary Relief).
